About Latin Lead Learner

Classical Conversations regularly reminds their Challenge directors that they are lead learners.  Being a lead learner, rather than certified expert, can be a freeing and liberating mindset for directors who face the daunting task of leading 6 different strands.  We don’t need to be the experts, but show a love for learning and how to find the answers.  However, one major problem (at least for me) was how do I find those experts?  How do I go from not knowing a word of Latin to leading students in not only knowing but loving it?  This question confronted me in 2017 when I started directing Challenge A and has continued to confront me as I have moved up through each strand with my child (now entering Challenge IV).

I am not in any way claiming to have arrived as a a Latin expert. If you would like (or need) an expert then I have listed in the page "other helpful resources" people who help teach Henle Latin. Latin lead learner is the combined resources and knowledge that I have gained over the years. I have taught through the Latin in Challenge A-II many times, and through all of Challenge III once. I don’t say this to give the impression that I am an expert. I am not an expert, but I have walked the trail before you. Hopefully, I have blazed a trail others can follow.

Each time I have taught, I have made adjustments, refinements, and improvements so that I believe I have accumulated a fair amount of helpful resources, knowledge, and tools in the teaching of Latin.

The courses led and the resources provided through Latin Lead Leaner are thus geared to help CC licensed directors teach their own students with clear, organized, informed, and guide-sequenced resources and instruction.  They are not perfect, but they have proved useful for me, my students, and for over 150 directors since the 2020-2021 academic year.

PLEASE DON’T LET COST KEEP YOU FROM SIGNING UP! I want to help directors, and thus if you can’t afford this, then let me know, and I will give you a scholarship.  I give them as needed, which has been everything from totally giving it for free or other amounts. More about costs can be found at signing up.
